The Foreign Employees Act Implementation Decree has decided to index the salary criterion for immigrants as of 1 January 2020. This increase is based on the most recent index figures of the negotiated wages published by Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
Therefore the following gross monthly amounts will apply as of 1 January 2020:
Highly skilled migrant of 30 years and older € 4.612
- Highly skilled migrant under 30 years € 3.381
- Persons who graduated in The Netherlands € 2.423
- European blue card € 5.403
The afore-mentioned salary criteria also apply to applications for residence permits for transfers within the same company (Intra-Corporate Transferees Directive 2014/66/EU).
No other changes have taken place with regard to how these amounts have to be applied. That is to say, a 13th month payment, a fixed end-of-year bonus or any other allowance laid down in a contract has to be paid monthly to the highly skilled migrant. If not so, it is not permitted to include these amounts when calculating the salary criterion.
